April General Meeting with Guest Speaker Ken Brown

  • April 04, 2017
  • 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM
  • McConaghy Seniors' Centre, 10100 Yonge Street

Guest Speaker: Ken Brown
Topic: The Three Plus One Tenors

During our 7th annual William and Marjorie Barker Lecture, Ken Brown, guest speaker at the 2016 Richmond Hill Blooms Gala, will make a case for why he believes Iris, Peony, Daylily and Lily are the four powerful perennials that should be the backbone of any perennial garden. Ken refers to the Iris as the Queen of the perennial garden with its fabulous blooms, while lamenting they do not last long and their foliage is not their best feature. By adding Peonies and Daylilies, Ken extends the flowering season of his own garden and introduces additional colours and foliage. Ken’s presentation will include an overview of these plants’ amazing ranges of sizes, colours and textures, as well as methods of propagation and planting, and ongoing care and feeding.
Former Toronto Zoo Superintendent of Horticulture and owner of The Plant Manager interior landscaping firm, Ken Brown shares his love of horticulture through teaching, public speaking, and writing. Visit Ken online at
