Closing the Garden

Closing the Garden

Guest Speakers: Jessica Tong and Marissa Wiltshire

The Richmond Hill Garden & Horticultural Society hosted four webinars earlier this year on the topic of Growing Vegetables. As a follow-on to the series, we have enticed representatives of the York Region Food Network to share end-of-season gardening tips to “put your garden to bed”.

About tonight's presentation: October is the perfect time to start closing down your garden! Now is the time to finish harvesting outdoor plants, prune and remove remaining debris, and tidy up beds and tools. Doing a proper garden clean up now can help give you a head start in the Spring and also promote the health of your soil.

Our guest speakers this evening are representatives of the York Region Food Network: Jessica Tong is the Urban Agriculture Coordinator and Marissa Wiltshire is Director of Operations.

York Region Food Network is a not-for-profit community development organization with initiatives focused on Food Access, Food Skill Development, and Education and Advocacy on Food Insecurity and Food Systems.
